Experience

We have been creating 3-D coordination and fabrication drawings since installing the mechanical systems in the Value Center Arena in the middle of the 1990’s. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a recent term that refers to combining all trades’ 3 dimensional drawings into a viewing platform easily accessible for virtual coordination between trades, architects, engineers, construction managers, and owners. This process leads to early clash detection between trades and provides a collaborative approach to problem solving. Our drafting team has over 15 years of experience in leading this coordination process to ensure the creation of a realistic and constructible model.

Value

We take this BIM process a step further. We create our coordination models with a level of accuracy that allows us to export fabrication drawings directly from our model without redrawing. Then we download the data from our coordination model into a robotic laser positioning system to layout all of our significant penetrations, hangers, etc on site. This ensures the completed coordination model is an accurate representation of what we install in the field, meaning less time spent doing rework and field coordination. Our proactive approach to problem solving increases the quality of the final product while decreasing on site clashes.
