The McCracken Power Plant provides utilities to all the buildings on the Ohio State main campus. This includes electricity, natural gas, steam, heating and domestic hot water, chilled water, potable water, and compressed air.
The Kirk Williams Company has worked on several high profile projects, such as boiler and chiller replacements, as well as shut-down work. We have installed one 450-ton and two 775-ton chillers. In the summer of 2006, we completed the installation of one 2,000-ton chiller and two 1,000-ton cooling towers outside the building to increase capacity.
In addition to these higher profile projects, we are also involved in many ongoing maintenance and service projects of a smaller scale, such as valve replacement, tunnel work, pipe or duct rerouting, etc.
We have worked throughout the plant, doing demolition and installation of ½” to 30” pipe, as well as ductwork, heavy duct breaching and stacks. We take pride in our ability and expertise in dealing with high pressure (200 psi) and high temperature (600° F), requiring up to schedule 180 pipe.
