Basement Pipe In Place for South Campus Central Chiller Plant
May 13, 2011
It took two full days to load the 36" and 42" diameter chilled water piping into the basement of The Ohio State University's South Campus Central Chiller Plant.
This large-bore pipe was prefabricated and stored at our facility until site conditions allowed us to move it into final position. The pipe was delivered to the site in a series of just-in-time deliveries and off-loaded directly in place with a 165-ton crane to accommodate the minimal lay down area available on site.
The largest piece of fabrication includes numerous offsets and a future tie-in point. It weighed in at just under 14,000 pounds, reaching 10 feet tall.
